Peter Jackson’s Halo Game! Halo RTS! Guitar Hero 360! GTA 4! Tons More From X06!

A veritable paella of Xbox 360 info burst forth from X06 in Barcelona today and surprisingly much of it was legitimately quite exciting. Let's recap shall we?

1. Peter Jackson is working on a Halo game: Peter Jackson was on-hand at X06 to talk about his new game studio, Wingnut Interactive, which he founded with longtime partner Fran Walsh in conjunction with Microsoft.

So not surprisingly, their first two games will be 360 exclusives.  Somewhat shocking however was that one of those games will be an all new game based on the Halo universe and developed with help from Bungie themselves.

The second game was not divulged but was said to be "an entirely original property."

2. Halo Wars Announced: The creators of the Age of Empires series, Ensemble Studios, have begun work on an RTS based on the Halo Universe and humanity's first encounters with the Covenant.

3. Two 360 Exclusive Grand Theft Auto 4 "Episodes":  All new, exclusive content for Grand Theft Auto 4 will be available via Xbox Live just months after release in October 2007.

4. Exclusive Marvel MMO to be Cross Platform: Cryptic, the studio behind City of Heroes, will be creating a MMO based on the Marvel Universe. The game will enable both 360 users and PC/Vista users to play each another on the same servers.

5. BioShock is a Microsoft Exclusive: The game was originally to also be available for the PS3 when it hits early next year but as it was announced today, the game will be a Microsoft exclusive for a while as it is now only planned for release on 360/Vista.

6. Unannounced Splinter Cell Title Exclusive to the 360: The next Splinter Cell game after Double Agent, whatever it may be (maybe 'Conviction' that was unwittingly revealed last week?) will be be exclusive to the 360. No actual name or date was given.

7. 360 HD-DVD for $200 in November: With up to six times higher resolution than your every day DVD player, Microsoft's HD-DVD add-on for the 360 will sell for $200 in November (no exact date) with a copy of King Kong. I'm not sure but I'm kind of getting a feeling that Bill Gates and Peter Jackson spend a lot time counting their money together.

8. Doom is on Xbox Live…NOW!: The ORIGINAL Doom was unveiled as a Xbox Live title that would be coming not "down the line" but TODAY. NOW. A HORA. A pleasant little surprise to be certain. Both single and co-op play is included and the game will cost you 800 points.

9. Guitar Hero 2 for the 360: As hinted at last week, Guitar Hero could be hitting the Xbox 360 stage sooner than we thought as Red Octane announced today that the game would be coming to the system with an all-new controller, the X-plorer. The X-plorer is in the shape of a, duh, Gibson Explorer. Not sure if it's wireless or not but one would imagine. Downloadable content was also confirmed in the press release. Please give us Iron Maiden's "The Trooper!"

If anyone had any doubts that Microsoft is really trying to drive the 360 to the hoop and make the world forget about the PS3, today should have totally crushed said doubts. They are truly covering all their bases and making moves that are really giving gamers some very exciting choices.
