Wii Dollars, Date, Deets Discussed

So the day is upon us. And it was good.

The Wii will be arriving on Nov. 19th, with 1 remote, 1 nun-chuk and Wii Sports for $250.

Yesterday I predicted almost that exact deal though A. it was wishful thinking on my part that there may be 2 controllers and B. I neglected to put a date. Though I would have been wrong anyway since I would have put it a week earlier at Nov. 12th. But I was right about Wii Sports which will include golf, tennis, baseball, boxing and bowling. That's the first time Nintendo has included a game at launch since Super Mario World and the SNES in 1991.

Here are the rest of the details

- North America is getting Wii first. Japan doesn't get it until December 2nd!

- 30 titles by end of the year.

- No online titles at US launch. Only Pokemon will be online in Japan at their launch.

- Zelda and Excite Truck at launch.

- No Metroid until 2007. Bummer.

- There will be Wii "Channels". One will be for downloading Virtual Console games, one will be for photos which you can put on the machine and store on the memory on SD, one will be for news, one for weather, one is a message board, and one is for internet surfing. And once you hook it up it will always be online 24/7. Very cool. Kind of Big Brother-ish but meh, still cool.

- 3 Virtual Console titles at launch. 30 by the end of the year. You will need to buy Wii "points" at retail which look to be $1 per 100 points. NES games will be 500 points, SNES games will be 800 points and N64 Games will be 1000 points.

- Mii channel, which seems to more or less be a customizable gamer profile with avatars, etc. These customizable avatars can be placed in certain games such as Wii Sports.

- All 1st Party games will be $49.99 and in widescreen. 3rd party games could be more and/or not in widescreen.

-Only available in white. Booooo! Though of course they will release other colors down the road but why did they tease with all those fancy colors last year? AND I just played a demo with a black Wii controller a couple weeks ago! Come the F on!

- Will play 530 Gamecube games. I didn't even know there were that many.

- 4 million Wii's out the door by the end of 2006.

OK so that's about it at the moment. Very exciting to say the least.
