Sony PS3 Launch To Be Possible Debacle
The International Herald reports on what could be shaping up to be quite the bungle for Sony's PS3 which includes, but is not limited to, the postponement of the Euro launch, the extremely small amount of PS3s available day one in the US and Japan.
Apparently a key part of the Blu-ray disc reader is the problem as it seems to be difficult to mass produce and as a result Sony has decided push back their Euro launch by several months to focus on only the US and Japan. This has also evidently put a halt to the "This is Living" campaign Sony rolled out just this week in Europe to promote the PS3.
At first this sounds fine to those of us in the US or Japan, but the paper then goes on to mention that Sony will only be producing 400,000 for the US launch and only 100,000 for the Japanese launch a week earlier.
And then Kikizo reveals in an interview with Sony's Jonathan Fargher that while the PS3 may be capable of 1080p, there won't really be any games any time soon that will be able to use it.
But wait! There's more! Today the appointment of a new PR head, Dave Karraker, whose claim to fame is Kmart and gin, was also announced…Oofa!
Makes sense since you may actually have to be drunk to not only pay $600 for a PS3 but to also attempt to get one anytime in 2006.
