The Dead Don’t Read.
So why should we?! Or at least anyone playing Dead Rising might think that was Capcom's rationale for making the text in Dead Rising eye-strainingly miniscule.
Turns out they may have just been lazy, as they only optimized the game for HDTVs, not SDTVs which, as it also happens, most regular folk still use to slay the undead upon.
Ever since the game came out earlier this month the internet has been ablaze about how irritatingly small the text is in the game, so much so that many people, yours truly included, simply ignore it altogether. The game is still extremely fun but how much more fun would it be if I actually knew what I was supposed to be doing instead of just following arrows and guessing. If my math is correct the answer is: AN ASS TON. Which is an actual number. Look it up.
Though I have to say I was gleefully surprised when I blindly followed the arrows to find a burly female cop about to do "something" to her busty captives with her nightstick. Unfortunatley, she left me no choice but to carve her up like a pumpkin on Halloween before I could find out what it was, but still, had I known what I was getting into it may not have been as much fun.
1UP spoke to Capcom earlier this week and apparently they have several solutions for people who are having trouble reading the text and none of which involve them actually doing anything about it or taking blame.
1.) Adjust the settings on your TV or monitor
2.) Try using component cables instead of standard composite
3.) Setting the TV to widescreen ratio (even though you may not have a widescreen TV) may help in some cases.
Super. Just tell us you are going to fix it already. Jeez.
