Microsoft Warns MMO Gamers

Microsoft today further warned MMO gamers and developers against online hackers and organized crime at their Gamefest game dev conference.

"Those of you who are working on massively multiplayer online games, organized crime is already looking at you," said Dave Weinstein, a Microsoft security development engineer, to the crowd of developers at the conference.

Speaking about how hackers can steal your account info and sell off your weapons, gold or character, he goes to point out how potentially difficult it is for Johnny Law to wrap it's head around crimes based on such virtual content.

"The police are really good at understanding someone stole my credit card and ran up a lot of money. It's a lot harder to get them to buy into 'someone stole my magic sword.'"

On a personal note, back when I was a level 23 Night Elf Hunter I somehow "lost" this awesome quiver I got from a quest in Duskwood. I'm level 54 now and it would probably be useless to me but it really chapped my hide to have it mysteriously disappear. If anyone has seen it on eBay please let me know. Thanks.
