The official announcement of Neill Blomkamp directing the Halo movie has the geekier side of the net all abuzz. Some nerds are left scratching their heads asking "Who?" as other nerds are gung ho for the virgin director taking Master Chief into the netherspace of Hollywood.

Which sort of nerd are we? Undecided.

But our gut leans towards this being a good thing. While the South African has worked on a few well received shorts such as Alive In Joburg and TempBot, some question his ability to take on such a huge project as Halo. But I think it's great to take a chance on this guy instead of getting, say,Michael Bay, to possibly ruin something that is beloved by millions…
